• English Language Arts
     
    In 4th grade we will begin Module 2 in Into Reading (Come To Your Senses). Students will investigate the Essential Question of How People and Animals navigate the world? In this unit, students will learn about the five senses and read stories and watch videos about how we use our senses every day. Videos- Animal Senses and Nonfiction Stories, Blind Ambition 

    Mathematics
    Our math class will be focused on learning about multiplying by 1-digit whole numbers. We will investigate strategies for multiplying 2-, 3-. and 4-digit number by the numbers 2-9. So far, students have been introduced strategies such as the Distributive Property, Expanded Form, and Standard form with regrouping. You can expect to see homework that provides practice with multiplication by 1-digit numbers. Please review homework with your child daily in order for them to be ready for our mid/end of chapter assessments and performance task. 
    Social Studies:     
    Students have learned about the geography of New York and how it has affected the people who lived there in the past and that it continues to affect the people who live there today. Students will demonstrate their understanding of geography and about how New York's First People used natural resources to survive by planning a two day tour of New York State to help a group of foreign exchange students understand the geography and history of our states natural resources. They will plan their tour so that their visitors are shown key sites/landforms in our states. They will create an itinerary that includes an explanation of why they have selected those sites and its importance to N.Y.S. Additionally, students will create a map of the state that traces the route and includes key sites.
     
    Science
    We  are learning about Electricity and Energy and how it affects our everyday lives.
