    READING:
     
    PLEASE continue to read with your child everyday. (*Books are sent home daily along with a reading log. This will allow your child to keep track of their reading and comment on what they have read)
     
    Our informational unit, Reading To Learn, launches students’ lives as nonfiction readers. Children will read expository nonfiction and narrative nonfiction texts with eagerness, interest, and fluency, with a focus on main ideas and supporting details. 
     
    Our mentor text for this unit is Gorillas by Seymour Simon along with Frogs and Toads by Bobbie Kalman and Tammy Everts.

    MATH:
    During the next few weeks, our math class will be learning more about multiplication. We will learn strategies for finding an unknown factor and for multiplying with multiples of 10.
    You can expect to see homework that provides practice with strategies for multiplying with multiples of 10
     
    PLEASE review the following vocabulary below:
     
    Equation - A number sentence that uses the equal sign to show that two amounts are equal
     
    Factor - A number that is multiplied by another number to find a product
     
    Multiple - A number that is the product of two counting numbers
     
    Product - The answer to a multiplication problem

    WRITING:
    Students are working on writing informational  pieces on topics they are an expert on. They will work on choosing a topic, planning their book, and writing it!

    SCIENCE:
    Using Amplify Science, students will continue to participate in hands on  investigations, and be exposed to a diverse range of scientific fields and career paths. Students are exploring the balance force.

    SOCIAL STUDIES: 
    Students will develop an understanding of the meaning of geography and its purpose. Students will learn how people use natural resources in order to meet their needs.
